At Sherrier, through our 3Cs- Compassion, Creativity and Community- we aim to promote a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which all members are valued and health and wellbeing are promoted. We are committed to promoting and securing a positive emotional wellbeing for all our children, staff and the wider community. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and, at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play. Here you will find access to useful weblinks to support your Child’s Mental Health and Wellbeing. Here you will be able to get further advice and support if needed. Should you need any mental health and wellbeing support please contact Mrs Kirby (Deputy Headteacher) our Mental Health First Aider.

At Our School We:

  • Help children to understand their emotions and feelings better

  • Help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries

  • Help children socially, to form and maintain relationships

  • Promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count

  • Encourage children to be confident and ‘dare to be different’

  • Help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks

We Offer Different Levels Of Support:

  • Universal Support- To meet the needs of all our pupils through our overall ethos and our wider curriculum e.g. through the 3C’s curriculum, Routes 2 Resilience Character building program and our PSHE scheme JIGSAW. We are also able to access wellbeing support through our local sport partnership SLSSP, and by training our own children as Wellbeing Ambassadors, we can deliver wellbeing sessions and activities that promote a positive wellbeing across the school.

  • Additional Support- For those who may have short term needs and those who may have been made vulnerable by life experiences, such as bereavement, we have a Pastoral Manager and ELSA trained who can offer more personalised support sessions.

  • Targeted Support- For pupils who need more differentiated support and resources or specific targeted interventions, such access to our school counsellor within a wellbeing group or 1:1 sessions.
